Skills Development Manager

Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is the National Development Body for the Scottish museums sector. We are looking for an experienced professional to join our Skills Development team, working to encourage good practice and drive continuous improvement in skills development and promote a culture of learning and development within the museums and galleries sector.

MGS supports more than 400 museums and galleries, through strategic investment, advice, advocacy, and skills development. Collaboration, integrity, courageousness and a passion for museums shape our approach.

This role provides a great opportunity to be a key interface between MGS and the sector, building networks and delivering a wide range of skills development programmes and activities for the benefit of the sector. The Skills Development Manager develops and manages partnerships with key stakeholders across the heritage landscape that maximise the quality of our products and programme delivery. They also play a key role in the ongoing development of MGS as an SQA Assessment Centre to deliver vocational learning.

 A skilled communicator who is self-motivated, shows initiative and builds strong and effective relationships, you will have a proven track record of developing and managing a wide range of skills development programmes with defined learning outcomes, to a diverse range of learners. You will be a qualified L&D9DI workplace assessor and L&D11 internal verifier and have experience of developing and delivering training provision. A working knowledge of Scottish Government skills priorities, and experience of developing, delivering and monitoring externally funded projects are essential. Knowledge of the museums and galleries sector in Scotland; experience of delivery in an SQA Assessment Centre; and experience of working with volunteers would be an advantage.

Full time (36.25 hours a week)

Starting Salary £30,815

Fixed term for 12 months (potential to extend)
